Description
This course provides instruction on theory and application of braking systems, along with lab practice. Hydraulic Systems are taught, along with inspecting, replacing and repairing brakes lines, hoses, master cylinder and brake drums. Students will learn to service both drum and disc brakes, and will diagnose and repair power brakes and related systems such as Anti Lock Brakes (ABS) Traction Control (TCS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Systems.
Upon course completion, students will be able to:
Identify components of braking systems, perform road tests and interpret brake system concerns
Diagnose pressure concerns in the brake system using hydraulic principles
Bleed and replace brake fluid and reinstall master cylinder
Remove, clean and inspect brake drum; refinish drum where necessary
For disc brakes, remove, inspect and replace brake pads; remove, refinish and reinstall rotors
Inspect vacuum-type power assist braking systems
diagnose and repair power brakes and related systems such as Anti Lock Brakes (ABS) Traction Control (TCS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Systems.
